Billet continuous caster
  • Product Details

A billet is a square-section steel blank produced by a continuous casting machine, used for processing into structural shapes. During continuous casting, molten steel at high temperature is continuously poured into one or a set of water-cooled molds, where it gradually solidifies around the mold to form a billet shell. When the liquid steel level rises to a certain height and the billet has solidified to a specified thickness, a straightening machine pulls the billet out, and water is sprayed in the secondary cooling zone to ensure complete solidification. According to rolling requirements, a cutting device is used to cut the billets into specific lengths.

Continuous casting machines for billets include those for rectangular billets. Generally, castings with a cross-sectional area or equivalent cross-sectional area greater than 200×200 mm are called large billets, while those with a cross-sectional area or equivalent cross-sectional area less than 160×160 mm are called small billets. Rectangular billets with a width-to-thickness ratio greater than 3 are referred to as slab billets.

Drawing on its extensive experience in billet continuous casting production, SMG GROUP, in conjunction with customers’ actual needs and the project’s practical conditions, provides clients with practical and effective technical advice and addresses any questions or challenges they may have regarding their projects.
