Steely R.M.I 360,000-ton Integrated Continuous Rolling (Rebar + Rebar and Wire Rod) EPC Project in Ethiopia
I. Project Basic Information
Customer Name: Steely R.M.I Ethiopia
Project Location: Ethiopia
Industry: Steel Rolling
Core Delivery Targets (Totaling 360,000 tons):
180,000 tons/year Rebar Production Line
180,000 tons/year Combined Rebar and Wire Rod Production Line
II. Customer Pain Points and Project Background
Ethiopia is currently experiencing a major infrastructure boom, leading to an explosive surge in demand for various types of construction steel. Customer Steely R.M.I aims not only to produce straight-threaded rebar but also to manufacture wire rod, thereby fully meeting the fundamental needs of construction projects. However, local power supply is unstable, and there is a shortage of experienced professionals capable of managing modern metallurgical production lines. The customer requires an EPC partner that can provide not only reliable equipment but also “lifelong support” services.
III. Our Full Lifecycle Value-Added Services
Engineering and EPC Contracting: Based on the customer’s two-phase expansion requirements, our company provided integrated project consulting and preliminary design. In the procurement and supply chain management phases, we precisely addressed logistical bottlenecks inherent to this landlocked country. A professional construction and installation supervision team ensured the smooth joint commissioning and startup of the two production lines with different processes.
Highly Adaptable Customized Equipment Supply: We delivered a complete set of highly flexible metallurgical equipment tailored to the customer’s needs. Specifically addressing local grid characteristics, we customized an electrical control system capable of withstanding voltage fluctuations, and seamlessly integrated water, electricity, and gas facilities for both the new and existing production lines within the same plant area.
Anxiety-Reducing Spare Parts Management: Wire rod production places significant demands on consumables such as guide rolls and rolling mill rolls. We established a dynamic spare parts inventory early-warning mechanism, leveraging reliable international supply chain relationships to offer cost-effective emergency supply solutions delivered promptly.
Capacity Building in Production Operations Management: We recognize that equipment delivery is only the first step. Our expert team conducted months-long on-site knowledge transfer, providing hands-on training and development for employees, helping the customer optimize key performance indicators such as roll-changing times, and fully unlocking the potential of local labor resources.
IV. Customer Value and Social Benefits
Competitive Advantage: By assisting the customer in building a comprehensive steel rolling mill with a total capacity of 360,000 tons per year, covering everything from single-product output to multi-specification rebar and wire rod, we have solidified their position as a leader in Ethiopia’s steel industry.
Import Substitution and Job Creation: This project has significantly reduced Ethiopia’s reliance on imported wire rod, creating numerous high-skilled industrial jobs locally and strongly supporting the nation’s industrialization drive.
